February-August 1984 - Julian Lennon's debut album is recorded at several studios in America, Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, Muscle Shoals, Alabama; Bear Tracks Recording Studio, Suffern, New York; A & R Recording Studios, New York City; Clinton Recording Studios, New York City; and The Hit Factory, New York City. Along with long-time mate Justin Clayton, Julian is joined by a group of top-ranked supporting players for the recordings. Incidentally, the album is finished and mixed at The Hit Factory on the same console used by John Lennon to record Double Fantasy. During work at The Hit Factory, Phil Ramone reportedly asks Julian, "Do you feel the ghosts?" Julian replies, "They feel good for me. The vibes feel good and I want to be here!"

21 March 1984 - Julian is invited by Yoko Ono to attend the dedication ceremonies for Strawberry Fields a section of Central Park in front of the Dakota which was renovated as a memorial for John Lennon. Yoko, Julian, and Sean all used shovels to officially break the ground for the renovation and signs were put up stating, "This landscape renovation, with an endowment for its preservation, is a gift of Yoko Ono Lennon in memory of her husband, John Lennon."

24 September 1984 - Julian's single, Too Late For Goodbyes, is released in the UK. It eventually reaches number 6 on the UK charts.

15 October 1984 - The debut album, Valotte, is released in the UK. All the songs on the LP but one are Julian originals. Julian is featured on lead vocals, bass guitar, keyboards, electronic drums & percussion. Video productions for two tracks, Valotte and Too Late For Goodbyes are directed by Sam Peckinpah shortly before his death.

19 October 1984 - Valotte, the album, is released in the US.

When Valotte was released, Paul McCartney sent Julian a telegram saying "Good luck, old fruit" and after he heard it he called as told Julian "I love it." In an interview Paul said: "I think it's great! What surprised me is he's got a very good voice, 'cause I knew that I'd heard that he sounds like his dad, and I guessed that Phil (Ramone) was doing a sort of Lennon sound-a-like record. But I found it very surprising. His voice goes to some very pleasant places. Okay, it's a little like his dad, but that's on purpose, I think. He shows a musicality I didn't know he had."

24-25 October 1984 - Julian appears on NBC's Today Show and Entertainment Tonight.

10 November 1984 - The single Valotte makes it's debut on the Billboard Top 40. It stays in the top 40 for 12 weeks and spends a month in the top ten peaking at #9.

16 November 1984 - Julian co-hosts NBC-TV's (US) Friday Night Videos with Paul McCartney.

21 November 1984 - Julian appears on CBS Newswatch.

20 December 1984 - Julian appears on The News That Rocked '84

31 December 1984 - Julian appears on the TV special Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve live in New York City's Times Square.
